It was my parents’ 56th anniversary and the Folke people treated us well. The food was excellent. The presentation alone was a work of art. We ordered the small tasting menu. I didn’t think it was going to be enough food since each course was so small, but we were all stuffed by the end. The restaurant is a bit pricey for me to go all the time, but it is a great choice for special occasions.

This is a standout restaurant, with great food and service! We selected the 8 course tasting menu and were bombarded with different flavours, textures, and smells. The drinks menu isn't overly huge, but what they offer is very good. Each dish was delicious. There wasn't any "heavy" dish (except for the pasta at the end) but we were stuffed. Favorite dish was the beet tartar: nice balance of the sweet beets with slightly sour black currants. The olive oil crackers used to scoop up the beets were very good. While not a separate dish, the garlic "butter" accompanying the sourdough was amazing! Great flavour. Service is top notch spanning the service staff to the chefs, who bring out each dish and explain in detail what you will devour. As noted on the menu, there is not tip that is required. Folke pays its staff a living wage so tips are not expected to be supplementing their incomes.

Decided to check out Folke to try their vegan tasting menu. Love the focus on locally grown and sourced food, spirits, beer and wine. The dishes were tasty and even though some of the portions look small you do end up eating a lot - I was very full by the time we were done. The service was really top notch and friendly and I loved that the chef came out to explain almost all of the dishes. I have done both the tasting menu here and at Acorn and I will say that I like that they stagger how quickly food comes out here at Folke more. The Acorn was great but I definitely felt more rushed and that I didn’t have as much time to fully enjoy each dish. They are all about the experience here so I think they really let you take your time. Also, even though I’m not against tipping in general I will admit that it was pretty nice that I didn’t have to factor in an extra 15-20% on top of the bill.

Sat at the chef’s counter for an incredible plant-based journey. Each plate was a work of art, beautifully balanced and full of surprises. Highlights for me: The heirloom tomato salad with fresh herbs and crunchy nuts over a bed of tzatziki—bright, juicy, and absolutely perfect for summer. The snacks: mushroom arancini and potato rosti to start set the tone right away; playful, crisp, and packed with flavor. The chickpea tofu, Folke’s signature, reminded me of a silky tom kha—rich, aromatic, and deeply comforting. Zucchini done three ways in a smoky-smooth salsa macha—layered, earthy, and just the right amount of heat. Every course showed so much creativity and respect for seasonal produce. Folke really proves that vegan dining can be luxurious, thoughtful, and downright delicious.

Chickpea tofu dish was the best! We did feel the 5 dish tasting menu wasn’t enough to fill your stomach (don’t go extremely hungry!) again it’s about appreciating the flavor but still I did expect to be slightly more full. Will come here again and try the entree portions. Pictures are of the blueberry tart (wish there was more blue berry and less whipping cream, it tasted phenomenal), dumplings, Ramen (tasted great just wish it was warm and not a cold version) , chickpea tofu (favourite dish of ours). We ordered the dumplings separately as we will still a bit hungry after the 5 meals haha (we went starving).

Recently had the pleasure of coming here for brunch and can’t say enough good things about our experience. I forgot to get a picture but the mushroom toast was one of the best menu items I have eaten at any restaurant; the balance of flavours between salty, sweet and umami was outstanding as well as the bread being some of the best bread I’ve had. Every dish had so much care, love and attention put into it them. I also had the pleasure of tasting many of their desserts/pastries including the chocolate chip cookie which was one of top five cookies Ive ever eaten (vegan or otherwise). The service was quick, attentive and extremely friendly. I also appreciate that tips are included in the price of food, I hope more businesses will move to this model. I will be recommending Folke to all my friends who come to Vancouver and hope I get to experience their dinner menu soon too.

Wow, a Michelin Guide restaurant that does not accept gratuity. That explains a whole lot – explains why the service is not up to the level we’ve come to expect at good restaurants in Vancouver, at least. Knowing this now helps me understand not to expect service since we don't have servers that attention to wipe tables of crumbs after each course, or placing appropriate fresh cutlery while reminding us what the kitchen will deliver next. You don't get that at Folke – which is in fact fine, it's simpler and more cost effective. In fact, the person who took our order thought we were done when we were still waiting for the last plate. Another person we asked if last dish was savoury or sweet didn’t get the hint that plates and cutlery were used with traces of savoury foods, and when we requested clean plates, we were asked to keep our knifes and forks which was weird. During our entire meal, no one asked us how we were enjoying the food, and the expeditor from the kitchen did not tell us what were on the plates presented. Now the food: I wasn’t successful ordering Baby Gem Salad because my partner thinks we eat enough lettuce at home. Okay then, our first course was Potato Rostii. I am glad the portions were delicate because of the glycemic index and we didn't precede this with some greens. These had probably been cooked and chilled before they can be cut to such perfection and deep fried. The crispy ‘skin’ was perfect, yummy (but unhealthy). Our second shared plate was Baked Strata, chickpea & tofu custard, sourdough, charred brassica, pumpkin seed parmesan. It was disappointing. My partner described it as “left over from my fridge that didn’t get warmed up properly”. Obviously, we shouldn’t have ordered two baked dishes back-to-back. Mushroom toast would have been a better second plate after the rostii. I was grateful for the few pieces of leaves on the strata. Our last plate was dutch baby because of our somewhat sweet tooth! But it was nothing like the Dutch Baby I used to make in my iron pan. It was deflated and made soggy by the creams and fruit on top, served in a round salad bowl. Definitely missing passion. We would have appreciated the pancake served straight out of a hot oven on the original hot iron pan, with the fruit and creams on the side. The granola was tough (hard) – my dentist—had he tasted it—would have shaken his head at me and said “no, no, don’t eat that and crack your teeth!” I was disappointed that we didn’t get to taste the mushroom toast as we were both full after the third shared plate. Will we come again? My partner thinks not – "I can drop you off if you want to eat here again next time." I will return though as I am grateful that Folke is there to provide an all-vegan menu. I wish Folke all the best and hope that they will be around for a long time to come. Apart from the deep fried mushrooms (chicken waffles), most everything is HEALTHIER than what’s served in the non Michelin vegan junk food places on Main Street. I love the fact that I can just order anything without having to worry that I might be ingesting egg or dairy. The Dietary Restrictions FAQ on their website says “We require 48 hours notice for dietary restrictions such as no onion and garlic.” At least they are willing to accommodate my health problems, yay! I will eat here again and try everything else. Dear folks at Folke Team, thank you!

The croquette was like flavorful risotto in grilled bread and pretty cheesy but I had to put all the arugula salad in there to give it more fresh greenness pretty memorable. Would want to visit again as there's new menus.. Desserts sound good too and Vegan Twosome were there which was a special bonus
